Vacation is calling

It was about 4:45 and I was getting ready to brown some meat to make tacos when Dan called to say he would be leaving the office soon and would be home around 5:30. He sounded exhausted and a little down. During our quick convo he mentioned how he wished we could just go on a vacation. After he hung up, I was standing by the stove cooking and thinking about how to help. What could I do to help take a weight off of his shoulders? And then I thought- why can't we have a mini vacation here! So I got to work- finished up dinner, set the table with whatever festive decor I could find around the house, and made a quick playlist, including the beach boys and good ol' Jimmy. I even changed into the most tropical looking skirt and top that could find in the depths of my closet. Emma and Kolbe helped too and couldn't wait to surprise daddy.

Finally he was home and we were waiting. Dan walked in the door and the first thing he heard was "Aruba, Jamaica, ooo I wanna take ya...", then he saw us and the table set and the smile on his face made my day for sure. And then we all danced together and ate tacos.

A one hour vacation from the worries of the world.... Check.

Sometimes all it takes is a moment to think outside of the box and a little extra effort to pull it together and the result is new family memory that we probably won't forget.

"Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go
down to Kokomo, we'll get there fast
but then we'll take it slow,
that's where we wanna go
way down to Kokomo."

And you will probably have this song stuck in your head the rest of the day. You're welcome.
